Frequently asked questions

Generally, prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines based on models and internal analysis, while this market is driven by the collective predictions of individuals trading on Polymarket. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially early in the market's lifecycle, as prediction markets can incorporate information and react to news more quickly. Comparing the two can provide a more comprehensive understanding of the potential outcome of the game.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date collective intelligence regarding which team will score first in the match between the Dash and the Spirit.

This market resolves around Oct 4, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on which team, if any, scores the first goal in the Houston Dash versus Washington Spirit match. If neither team scores during regulation time, the outcome will reflect that neither team scored first. The official game records will serve as the definitive source for determining the winning outcome of this market.

Several factors could influence the trading activity and shift the odds in this market. Late-breaking news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either the Dash or the Spirit would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they are expected to affect the style of play, could also move the market. Even significant pre-game analysis from respected sports commentators or analysts could sway trader sentiment and alter the probabilities reflected in this market on Polymarket.
