Prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set initial lines to balance their risk, while this market’s odds are driven entirely by the collective wisdom of traders. This can lead to discrepancies, particularly when there is strong public sentiment or information asymmetry. If a large number of people believe one competitor will win, the odds will shift accordingly, potentially diverging from sportsbook lines. It’s common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbooks in accuracy, as they aggregate diverse viewpoints.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome.
