Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to openly express their beliefs about the probability of each exact score. If a significant discrepancy exists between this market and sportsbook odds, it could indicate that the crowd perceives information differently than bookmakers, or that one venue has more efficient pricing. Analyzing these differences can be a valuable part of your research process.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores. The price of each share reflects the market's collective belief about the probability of that score occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect new information and changing sentiment. The market’s depth and liquidity influence how quickly prices respond to new developments, and the current volume indicates the level of interest in various outcomes.
