If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of its original scheduled start time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of the scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price. Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance betting action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the probability of each outcome. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by simultaneously betting on both platforms. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities as perceived by different groups – bettors in the case of sportsbooks, and traders on Kalshi.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book, where traders buy and sell contracts representing each possible outcome. The price of a contract reflects the market’s implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy a contract, its price increases, and the implied probability rises. Conversely, selling pressure drives the price down. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price difference between outcomes indicates the market’s expectation of which team is favored to win the first half of the Hawai'i vs UTEP game.
This market resolves around Nov 7, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the outcome will be determined by which team is leading at the end of the first half of the Hawai'i vs UTEP football game. The official score at halftime, as reported by a trusted sports data source, will be used to determine the winning contract. The platform will then finalize the payouts to traders who correctly predicted the first-half winner.
Several factors could influence trading activity in this market before resolution. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the Hawai'i or UTEP teams would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest adverse conditions impacting the game, could also shift expectations. Furthermore, any late-breaking news about team strategies or coaching decisions might prompt traders to reassess their probabilities. Even general shifts in public sentiment, reflected in other betting markets or social media, could contribute to changes in the price of contracts in this market.
