Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. As more information becomes available, such as team news or weather forecasts, the prediction market odds may converge with or diverge from sportsbook odds, potentially offering value to informed traders. It's crucial to compare both to assess the perceived probabilities.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each possible outcome – a Hanwell Town win, a Dover Athletic win, or a draw. The price of each share directly reflects the probability of that outcome, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe an outcome is likely, the higher the share price will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the collective intelligence of participants.

This market resolves around Oct 3, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The result will be determined by the official second half result of the Hanwell Town vs. Dover Athletic match, as recorded by official league sources. The platform will verify the outcome against these sources to ensure accuracy and transparency. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome will be paid out according to the final share price at resolution.

Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding team injuries, suspensions, or changes in starting lineups for either Hanwell Town or Dover Athletic could significantly shift probabilities. Unexpected weather conditions on match day, or even tactical adjustments announced by the managers, could also impact the market. Furthermore, in-game events during the first half, such as a red card or an early goal, could trigger substantial price movements as traders react to the evolving situation. Monitoring these signals is key to identifying potential trading opportunities.
