Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of forecasters, and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market is driven purely by individuals willing to put their money behind their beliefs. Often, prediction markets are more accurate than traditional forecasts, especially when accounting for information not readily available to the public. However, sportsbook odds provide a useful benchmark for comparison and can highlight potential value in this market.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract fluctuates based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective probability assigned to that outcome by market participants. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism means the odds are constantly updated as new information becomes available and traders adjust their positions. The current price reflects the aggregated beliefs of all traders on the platform regarding the likelihood of each possible result.
