Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to express their own beliefs about the probability of each team scoring first. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamics of how each type of market operates. It’s common to see prediction markets move more efficiently as new information becomes available, potentially offering a more accurate assessment of the likely outcome.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Gwangju or Ulsan will score first. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, directly reflecting the collective prediction of market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The closer the match gets, the more volatile the price may become as new information—such as team lineups or weather conditions—emerges. The current implied probability of either team scoring first is reflected in the share prices.

This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team—Gwangju or Ulsan—scores the first goal in the match. Any goals scored during extra time or penalty shootouts will not be considered for the purposes of this market. The official match result will serve as the definitive source for determining the winning outcome.

Several factors could significantly impact this market. Late-breaking news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Gwangju or Ulsan would likely cause a shift in the odds. Changes in weather conditions, such as heavy rain or strong winds, could also influence the perceived likelihood of either team scoring first. Additionally, any significant tactical announcements from the coaches, or even pre-match analysis from reputable sports commentators, could sway market sentiment and lead to price fluctuations.
