Often, prediction market odds reflect a 'wisdom of the crowd' perspective, potentially differing from those initially set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook’s odds are inaccurate, they can drive the price on Polymarket in a different direction. This can lead to discrepancies, with prediction markets sometimes offering more accurate forecasts than traditional betting venues, though this isn’t always the case.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares, the price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand, reflecting the collective intelligence of those participating in the market. Volume and open interest also play a role in price discovery, providing insights into the strength of market conviction.
This market resolves around Nov 5, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Guangzhou Open match, as reported by recognized sports authorities. The platform will verify the outcome against these sources to determine which outcome corresponds to the winning shares. Traders who held shares in the correct outcome will be entitled to a payout based on the final market price at resolution. This ensures a transparent and objective determination of the market’s outcome.
