Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on their own analysis, incorporating a margin for profit, while this market allows traders to adjust probabilities based on new information and diverse perspectives. If sportsbook odds strongly favor one team, but volume in this market is distributed more evenly, it could indicate disagreement between bettors and prediction market participants. Examining these differences can reveal valuable insights into potential mispricings and opportunities.

The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a probability distribution for the event. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The closer the match gets, the more sensitive the price will be to new information. Traders are constantly updating their assessments, leading to dynamic price adjustments that reflect the collective intelligence of the market. This differs from a fixed-odds bet, allowing for more nuanced expression of belief.
