Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to freely adjust probabilities based on their own analysis and information. If there's a significant discrepancy, it may indicate that prediction market participants have access to or place greater weight on information not yet fully incorporated into sportsbook lines. It's common to see this market react quickly to breaking news or changes in team lineups, potentially leading to odds movements that diverge from those offered by sportsbooks.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular team, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived chance of them scoring first. Conversely, selling pressure lowers the price. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds constantly adapt to new information and changing sentiment among traders.

This market resolves around Oct 3, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on which team officially scores the first goal in the Grimsby Town FC vs. Shrewsbury Town FC match. Official match data from recognized sports authorities will be used to determine the winning outcome. Any potential disputes will be evaluated based on the official match records and established sporting rules, ensuring a fair and accurate resolution process for all participants in this market.

Several signals could significantly influence this market. Unexpected weather conditions on match day, or even pre-match comments from managers, could introduce new information and lead to price adjustments. Furthermore, significant betting activity or large trades on Polymarket itself could also drive movement in this market.
