Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can often differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to freely adjust probabilities based on their own analysis and information. If there's a significant discrepancy, it could indicate that the market believes the sportsbook has mispriced the event. It’s worth noting that prediction markets often incorporate information faster than sportsbooks, especially regarding late-breaking news or changes in team conditions. Comparing the two can be a valuable exercise for informed betting.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of a particular outcome. As more shares are purchased for a specific outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher perceived likelihood. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds constantly adjust to reflect the latest information and collective intelligence of the traders participating in the market.
