Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective intelligence of traders on Polymarket, aims to reflect the true probability of each outcome. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, prediction markets can quickly adjust to new information and changing sentiment, potentially offering more accurate probabilities as the event approaches. It's common to see discrepancies between the two, particularly as more traders participate.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, indicating growing confidence. Conversely, selling pressure drives prices down. This dynamic process ensures that the market price constantly adapts to the latest information and collective wisdom of the participants, creating a probabilistic forecast for the second half result.

This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the outcome will be determined by which team – GKS Piast Gliwice or Widzew Lodz – wins the second half of the match. The official result, as reported by a trusted sports data provider, will serve as the basis for settlement. Traders who correctly predicted the winning team in the second half will receive a payout based on the final market prices at resolution.

Several factors could influence trading activity and shift the odds in this market. Any news regarding team injuries, changes in player lineups, or tactical adjustments announced by either GKS Piast Gliwice or Widzew Lodz could significantly impact the perceived probabilities. Unexpected weather conditions on match day could also play a role. Furthermore, general shifts in public sentiment, fueled by pre-match analysis or expert opinions, can drive trading volume and alter the market's assessment of each team’s chances of winning the second half.
