Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their beliefs, leading to potentially more accurate probabilities. Discrepancies can emerge due to differing information access, biases, or simply variations in opinion. It’s common to see this market adjust rapidly to new information, sometimes moving ahead of sportsbook lines as traders incorporate the latest news and analysis.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores. The price of each share reflects the market’s collective probability of that outcome occurring. As more shares are traded, the price fluctuates, providing a dynamic assessment of the likelihood of each possible result. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movements are driven by supply and demand, with traders expressing their views on the match’s outcome through their trading activity. This creates a transparent and efficient price discovery process.

Any news regarding player injuries, team lineups, or changes in coaching staff could significantly impact the perceived probabilities. Weather conditions on match day, or even pre-match analysis from sports commentators, could also drive price movements. Unexpected announcements related to the teams or the league could also cause volatility. As the match approaches, any late-breaking information is likely to have a more pronounced effect on the market.
