Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, and can sometimes differ from those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. These differences can present opportunities for arbitrage, where traders attempt to profit from the mispricing between the two types of markets.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, where traders buy and sell contracts representing the probability of each outcome. The price of a contract directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy contracts for Colgate to win the first half, for example, the price will increase, reflecting a higher perceived chance of that result. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism ensures that the market price constantly adjusts to incorporate new information and changing expectations about the game.
This market resolves around Oct 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The winning team of the first half of the Georgetown vs Colgate basketball game will determine the winning contract. The resolution will be based on the official game results as reported by a recognized sports data provider. Traders holding the winning contract will receive a payout of 100 minus the commission, while those holding the losing contract will forfeit their investment.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Georgetown or Colgate would likely cause significant movement. Changes in team lineups, coaching strategies, or even weather conditions could also impact trader sentiment. Furthermore, the release of updated statistical analysis or expert predictions could shift the perceived probabilities. Finally, large volume trades on Kalshi itself can create momentum and drive price fluctuations, especially as the game approaches.
