PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Kalshi defines a 'Yes' outcome for either team winning, creating a redundant market structure compared to Polymarket's direct win/loss resolution.Hero tip: Focus on Polymarket for a standard win/loss market. Be aware that Kalshi's structure effectively creates two markets for the same event.

Critical divergence points:

  • Polymarket: Resolves to the winning team (Hawks or BayStars). A 50-50 split occurs if the game is canceled or ends in a tie. "If the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks win, the market will resolve to "Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks".
  • Kalshi: Resolves to 'Yes' if either team wins. This creates a redundant market structure. "If Fukuoka Hawks wins... then the market resolves to Yes."
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Polymarket

In the upcoming NPB game, scheduled for October 28 at 5:00AM ET: If the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks win, the market will resolve to "Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks". If the Yokohama BayStars win, the market will resolve to "Yokohama BayStars". If the game is postponed, this market will remain open until the game has been completed. If the game is canceled entirely, with no make-up game, or ends in a tie, this market will resolve 50-50. The primary resolution source will be official information from the NPB. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Kalshi

Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi, often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. This can lead to differences in probabilities, especially when public sentiment strongly diverges from expert opinion. Examining both prediction market prices and sportsbook odds can provide a more comprehensive understanding of the potential outcomes for this event.

Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi can differ due to several factors, including variations in trader demographics, market design, and liquidity. Polymarket may attract a different type of trader than Kalshi, leading to differing interpretations of the available information. Furthermore, the volume of trading on each platform – currently $172,796 total – can influence price discovery. Lower volume on one platform may result in greater price volatility and divergence from the other. These differences highlight the importance of considering multiple sources when assessing the probabilities in this market.
