Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, and may be influenced by public betting patterns. This market, however, is driven by individuals directly wagering on the outcome, potentially leading to odds that more accurately reflect the true probabilities as perceived by informed bettors. Discrepancies can arise due to differing levels of information, analytical approaches, and risk tolerance between the two types of markets.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Mitsui vs Zahraj match. The price of these shares fluctuates based on supply and demand, effectively creating a real-time probability assessment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now.
