Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market allows traders to express their own informed opinions. Early in the market's life, you might observe discrepancies as prediction market participants weigh in with their analysis. Over time, these odds often converge as more information becomes available and both markets react to news and developments related to the fighters. It’s common to see prediction markets more accurately reflect true probabilities as the event approaches.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is driven entirely by supply and demand, meaning that significant shifts in sentiment or new information can cause rapid price movements.
