Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of forecasters, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market relies on traders directly expressing their beliefs about the outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or risk appetites. It’s common to see prediction markets incorporate information faster than sportsbooks, especially for events with significant public interest and available data. Observing these differences can offer valuable insights into public perception.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the aggregated sentiment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is driven by supply and demand; if many traders believe a particular outcome is likely, they will bid up the price of shares representing that outcome, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date collective forecast.
