Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi, often reflect a different kind of information than traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while prediction markets are driven by individuals betting their own capital, creating a more direct expression of collective belief. This market’s pricing can be influenced by factors sportsbooks may not immediately account for, such as insider information or subtle shifts in public sentiment. However, both types of odds aim to accurately predict the probability of an event occurring, and discrepancies can present opportunities for arbitrage.
