Prediction market odds, like those found for this market, often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to profit from margins, while prediction markets allow traders to directly express their beliefs. This can lead to discrepancies, especially as new information emerges. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on team rankings and statistics, this market can adjust rapidly to incorporate factors like injuries or changing team dynamics. Comparing the two can provide a more well-rounded assessment of the likely outcome.
Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi may differ due to variations in trader participation, market design, and liquidity. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract.
