Prediction market odds, like those displayed for this market, often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the underlying mechanisms. Sportsbooks set odds to ensure profitability, factoring in a 'vig' or commission. Prediction markets, conversely, are driven by genuine belief – traders buy and sell contracts based on their assessment of an outcome's probability. This can lead to more accurate odds, as they reflect a broader range of informed opinions. However, sportsbooks may offer different markets (e.g., point spreads, over/unders) not available in prediction markets. It's often valuable to compare both to gain a comprehensive view.
Polymarket and Predict can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Prices for this market on Polymarket and Predict may diverge due to several factors. Each platform has its own user base, with differing levels of expertise and information. Trading volume can also vary significantly between the two, impacting price discovery.
