The market resolves based on the official result of the professional MMA fight between Cody Chovancek and Soyoung You, scheduled for October 17, 2026. If Chovancek wins, his market resolves to Yes, and Soyoung You’s resolves to No, and vice versa if You wins. Post-expiration result changes, disqualifications, or reversals do not affect resolution. If the fight is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original time, the market remains active and resolves based on the final result. If the fight is cancelled or fails to start within 48 hours of the scheduled time, both markets resolve to a fair price. These markets are not endorsed by Zuffa LLC, d/b/a Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC, and references to such entities are purely descriptive.
Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective intelligence of traders on Kalshi, aims to reflect the true probabilities as perceived by the crowd. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, this market continuously adjusts as new information and opinions emerge, potentially revealing discrepancies between public perception and professional assessments.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the outcome of the Chovancek vs You fight. The price of a contract directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy contracts for a particular outcome, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived likelihood. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market efficiently aggregates information, and prices reflect the collective judgment of all participants.
This market resolves around Oct 18, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on the official result declared by the relevant combat sports authority. The market will determine which fighter is declared the winner of the Chovancek vs You fight, and that result will be used to settle all outstanding contracts on Kalshi. Traders holding contracts for the winning outcome will receive a payout.
Several factors could influence the price movement of this market before Oct 18, 2026. Any news regarding fighter injuries, changes in training regimens, or even pre-fight press conference statements could shift trader sentiment. Unexpected analysis from reputable combat sports analysts could also have an impact. Furthermore, significant betting activity – a large influx of volume on one particular outcome – would likely cause a noticeable price change. Public opinion, as expressed through social media or polls, can also indirectly influence trading behavior.
