Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, while this market allows traders to directly assess the probability of an outcome. Discrepancies can arise from differing information sources, varying levels of expertise among market participants, and the influence of public sentiment. It's common to see this market diverge from sportsbook lines, especially as new information becomes available or as the event draws closer.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the collective wisdom of the crowd. This creates a dynamic pricing system that responds to new information and changing perceptions about the event.

This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The result of the second half of the FC St. Gallen 1879 versus Lausanne-Sport match will determine the winning outcome. Resolution will be based on the official match result as reported by recognized sports data providers. The platform will verify the result against these sources to ensure accuracy and finalize the market settlement.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding player injuries, team lineups, or changes in coaching strategies could shift trader sentiment. Unexpected weather conditions or referee announcements might also play a role. Furthermore, significant shifts in public opinion, reflected in social media or sports news, can impact trading activity and, consequently, the market price. Monitoring these signals can provide insight into potential price movements leading up to Oct 11, 2026.
