Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, whereas this market allows for more direct peer-to-peer betting. It’s common to see discrepancies arise due to differing opinions on team form, potential injuries, or even subjective factors not easily quantifiable by sportsbooks. Analyzing these differences can sometimes reveal potentially advantageous betting opportunities, though it's important to consider all available information before making a decision.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each exact score. The price of each share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the prices adjust, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the event's potential results. The market's efficiency relies on the active participation of informed traders and the availability of relevant information.
