Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market incorporates the collective predictions of many individuals. If a significant number of traders believe a particular outcome is more likely than sportsbooks suggest, the odds on Polymarket will shift accordingly. It's common to see discrepancies, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment changes leading up to the event.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each possible outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the collective assessment of the likelihood of either FC Cincinnati or D.C. United scoring first in the first half. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's depth and volume influence how quickly prices respond to new information or shifts in opinion.

This market resolves around Oct 21, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the outcome will be determined by identifying which team, FC Cincinnati or D.C. United, scores the first goal during the first half of the scheduled match. Any goals scored during stoppage time added to the first half will be included in determining the outcome. The resolution will be based on official match data and verified against credible public sources.

Several factors could influence trading activity and shift the odds in this market. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either FC Cincinnati or D.C. United would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they favor one team's playing style, could also move the market. Additionally, any pre-match analysis from reputable sports analysts or unexpected lineup announcements could trigger shifts in trader sentiment and alter the prices on Polymarket.
