Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market represents what traders believe is the true probability of each exact score occurring. Discrepancies can arise from differing information sources, biases, or simply the collective insight of prediction market participants. If there's a significant difference, it might indicate that the crowd perceives an edge not yet recognized by sportsbooks, or vice versa. Analyzing these differences can be a valuable strategy for informed decision-making.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores. The price of each share reflects the market’s assessment of the probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information emerges, the prices adjust accordingly, creating a dynamic and responsive market. The higher the demand for a particular outcome, the higher its share price will climb, indicating increased confidence in that result. This creates a constantly updating forecast based on collective intelligence.
