Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on expert analysis and incorporate a margin for profit, while this market allows anyone to trade based on their own information and beliefs. If sportsbook odds heavily favor one team, but volume in this market suggests a more uncertain outcome, it could indicate disagreement between bettors and prediction market participants. Discrepancies can arise due to differing levels of information, biases, or simply varying risk appetites between the two groups.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing each possible outcome – in this case, either Celtic or Falkirk scoring first, or neither team scoring first. The price of each share directly reflects the market’s implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust dynamically, providing a real-time assessment of the likelihood of each scenario. The market's price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket.

This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on which team, if any, scores the first goal in the Falkirk FC vs. Celtic FC match. Official match records will be used to determine the first scoring team. The outcome will be determined by the official result of the match, as reported by trusted sports news sources and official league data. Any disputes will be resolved based on the official match data.

Several factors could influence the odds in this market. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Celtic or Falkirk would likely cause significant movement. Changes in team form, such as a recent string of wins or losses, could also shift expectations. Unexpected weather conditions on match day might impact the style of play and potentially favor one team over the other. Even pre-match analysis from reputable sports commentators could influence trader sentiment and lead to price fluctuations in this market. A late surge in betting activity could also cause noticeable shifts.
