In the upcoming EFL Cup (Carabao Cup) game between Everton FC and Newcastle United FC, scheduled for October 29, 2026 at 3:45 PM ET: This market will resolve based on the final score of the Everton FC vs. Newcastle United FC match originally scheduled for October 29, 2026 at 3:45 PM ET, considering only the result at the end of 90 minutes of regulation plus stoppage time; extra time and penalty shoot-outs are excluded. If the actual score is not one of the explicitly listed outcomes, the market resolves to "Any Other Score." If the match is postponed, the market will remain open until it is completed; if it is canceled with no make-up game, the market resolves to "0-0." The primary resolution source for this market is the official statistics of the event as recognized by the governing body or event organizers. However, if the governing body or event organizers have not published final match statistics within 2 hours after the event's conclusion, data from Flashscore may be used; if Flashscore data is unavailable, data from Sofascore may be used; if neither is available, a consensus of credible reporting may be used instead. All markets will settle based on the official final result as recognized by the governing body or event organizers. Revisions to officially declared final scores made after market resolution will not be accounted for in determining the outcome. If no acceptable data is available within 24 hours of the event's conclusion, this market will resolve 50-50, or to "Draw" where applicable.

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and a margin for profit, while this market allows anyone to trade on their beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook has mispriced an outcome, they can express that view by buying or selling contracts, driving the price towards what they perceive as the true probability. This dynamic can lead to prediction market odds being more accurate, especially as the event approaches and more information becomes available. It's a fascinating comparison of different forecasting methods.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell contracts representing different exact scores. The price of each contract reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the collective belief of the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movements are driven by supply and demand; if many traders buy contracts for a specific score, the price will increase, indicating a higher perceived probability. Conversely, increased selling pressure will lower the price. This creates a dynamic and responsive pricing system.
This market resolves around Oct 29, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final, official result of the Everton vs. Newcastle match will determine the winning contract. The resolution will be based on the exact scoreline as recorded by official sources, ensuring a transparent and verifiable outcome. Traders who hold the winning contract will be entitled to a payout based on the market's pricing at the time of resolution. It’s important to monitor the event closely as it approaches to understand the potential for shifts in the market.
Several factors could influence the price action in this market. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Everton or Newcastle would likely cause significant movement. Changes in team form, tactical adjustments, or even weather conditions on match day could also impact trader sentiment. Unexpected announcements related to team management or ownership could also play a role. Furthermore, any significant shifts in public opinion, as reflected in sports news and analysis, could influence trading activity and move the odds. Monitoring these signals will be crucial for anyone looking to trade in this market.
