Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while Polymarket allows traders to directly assess probabilities. This can lead to discrepancies, especially when public sentiment strongly favors one outcome. It's common to see prediction markets reflect the 'wisdom of the crowd' more accurately than fixed-odds betting, particularly as new information emerges. Comparing the odds can reveal where the market believes sportsbooks may be over or underestimating the likelihood of certain results in the Clayton vs van Veen match.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. As more shares are purchased for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, meaning a share priced at 60 represents a 60% chance of that outcome being correct. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants trading on Polymarket.

This market resolves around Oct 19, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting.
