Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while prediction markets, like Polymarket, allow traders to directly assess probabilities. This can lead to differences in implied probabilities, especially as new information emerges. It's common to see prediction market odds reflect the collective wisdom of informed traders, potentially identifying discrepancies or insights not immediately captured by sportsbook lines. Comparing the two can be a valuable exercise for anyone interested in this match.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information surfaces, the price adjusts accordingly, providing a dynamic assessment of the potential result. The current price indicates the collective prediction of all traders on Polymarket regarding the European Open doubles match.
