Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to freely adjust probabilities based on their own analysis and information. If there’s a significant discrepancy, it may indicate that the market perceives information differently than sportsbooks, or that one venue has more informed traders. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities of an outcome, and can be influenced by various factors, including public perception and breaking news.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information emerges, the price adjusts to reflect the collective prediction. The current volume traded is $414,419, showing the level of interest in this particular match. This dynamic pricing allows for a real-time assessment of expectations surrounding the Fils vs Michelsen match.
