Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can sometimes differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for profit margins, while this market is driven purely by traders expressing their beliefs. If there's a significant discrepancy, it may indicate that the crowd believes a sportsbook is mispricing the probability of a particular outcome. It's important to remember that both represent probabilities, but are derived through different mechanisms and may respond to different information.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders can buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more people trade, the price adjusts to reflect the collective view. The market’s price is determined by supply and demand; if more traders believe Elche will score first, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase, and vice versa.

This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the market will determine which team, Elche CF or Valencia CF, scores the first goal during the first half of the scheduled match. The result will be based on official match data and verified against credible public sources. The resolution will be definitive once the official match report confirms the first goalscorer within the first 45 minutes of play, plus any added stoppage time.

Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Elche CF or Valencia CF would likely cause significant movement. Changes in team formations or tactical approaches announced before the match could also shift the perceived probabilities. Even general news about team morale or recent performance could impact trader sentiment. Unexpected weather conditions on match day might also play a role, potentially affecting the style of play and influencing which team is favored to score first.
