Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, driven by the wisdom of the crowd on Polymarket, tends to reflect more purely the probability of an event occurring, though discrepancies can and do arise due to differing opinions and information available to each group. It’s common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast outcomes, especially when there’s significant public interest and informed trading activity.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different outcomes. The price of each share directly reflects the market’s assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust accordingly, creating a dynamic and real-time forecast. The current price indicates the collective belief of those trading on the platform regarding which team will score first in the first half of the Elche vs. Celta match.

This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the resolution will be based on which team—Elche CF or RC Celta de Vigo—scores the first goal during the first half of the scheduled match. The official match records will be used to determine the winning outcome. Traders will be able to claim their winnings once the result is officially declared and verified, and the platform completes its resolution process.

Several factors could influence the trading activity in this market before resolution. Any news regarding team injuries, changes in starting lineups, or even weather conditions impacting the match could shift the odds. Unexpected announcements about player form or tactical changes could also lead to significant price movements. Furthermore, large trading volume from informed participants, or even a shift in broader public sentiment, could all contribute to changes in the probabilities reflected in this market on Polymarket.
