Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. Therefore, discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply varying levels of confidence in a particular outcome. It's common to see prediction markets react more quickly to new information or changing sentiment than sportsbooks, offering a potentially more dynamic assessment of the event’s probability.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing different outcomes, and the price of each share reflects the market’s implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movements are driven by supply and demand, with traders attempting to profit from perceived mispricings. This dynamic process allows the market to aggregate information and generate a forecast that reflects the collective intelligence of its participants.
This market resolves around Oct 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Edmonton Elks versus Saskatchewan Roughriders game, as reported by the CFL. The market will determine which outcome – a win for either team – is the accurate result. Traders who hold shares in the winning outcome will be paid out according to the final share price at resolution, while those holding shares in the losing outcome will forfeit their investment.
Several factors could influence the price of shares in this market. Unexpected news regarding player injuries, changes in coaching strategies, or even weather forecasts could all shift trader sentiment. Significant media coverage or public endorsements could also play a role. Furthermore, any updates on team performance or analysis from sports analysts might prompt traders to reassess their positions. A late-breaking development, such as a key player being ruled out of the game, would likely cause a substantial movement in the market as traders adjust their predictions.
