These markets track how much either team wins or loses by in the final quarter of a college football game, focusing solely on performance in the last period of play. Outcomes depend on the point differential at the end of the fourth quarter, ignoring any overtime periods.
All markets resolve based exclusively on points scored during the 4th quarter (excluding overtime) of the Duke vs Virginia college football game scheduled for Oct 23, 2026. Each market has a specific point differential threshold that must be exceeded by either team for a 'Yes' outcome. If Virginia meets or exceeds the designated spread in their favor during the 4th quarter, the corresponding market resolves to 'Yes.' Conversely, if Duke meets or exceeds the designated spread in their favor during the same period, that market resolves to 'Yes.' Should the game be postponed but commence within 48 hours of the original start time, all markets remain active and resolve based on the official final result from the 4th quarter. If the game does not start within this 48-hour window, all markets will resolve to a fair price, taking into account all known information up to that point.
Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often incorporating information and perspectives beyond those considered by traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, this market allows a broader range of participants to weigh in, potentially leading to more accurate probabilities as new information emerges. It’s common to see differences between the two, as sportsbooks factor in a profit margin, while this market is driven by pure prediction. However, both aim to forecast the final result.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different point spreads for the 4th quarter. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that spread occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and place orders, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the likely outcome. The current top market on Kalshi is for Virginia wins 4Q by over 3.5 points, though probabilities are dynamic and change with trading activity.
This market resolves around Oct 24, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final point spread of the 4th quarter of the Duke vs Virginia game will be used to determine which contracts pay out. Specifically, the resolution will be based on the official result reported by a recognized sports data provider. The market will settle to 100 for the winning contract(s) and 0 for the losing contract(s), based on whether the actual spread falls within the range specified by the contract.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding player injuries to key players on either Duke or Virginia would likely have a significant impact. Changes in team performance during earlier games, coaching strategies, or even weather conditions could also shift trader sentiment. Unexpected announcements about team lineups or changes in player availability are also catalysts. Furthermore, large volume trades on Kalshi itself can create price movements as traders react to and anticipate further activity.
