These markets track the total points scored by both teams during the second quarter of an upcoming college football game. Each market has a different threshold for the total points needed to settle the outcome.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams combined during the second quarter of the Duke vs Virginia college football game scheduled for October 23, 2026. Each market has a specific threshold (ranging from 2.5 to 27.5 points); if the combined second-quarter points exceed the threshold, the market resolves to 'Yes.' If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Only points scored during the second quarter count toward resolution.
Generally, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook line is inaccurate, they can move the price on Kalshi to reflect their collective assessment, potentially offering better value than available at sportsbooks. It's a different mechanism for determining probabilities.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts. The price of a contract represents the probability of that outcome occurring. For example, a contract priced at 60 means it costs $60 to buy a contract that pays out $100 if the event occurs. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are constantly adjusting their bids and asks based on new information and their own analysis, leading to a dynamic price discovery process. The market efficiently incorporates information as it becomes available, reflecting the collective intelligence of the participants.
This market resolves around Oct 24, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final point total scored in the 2nd quarter of the Duke vs Virginia basketball game will be used to determine whether the ‘Over 7.5’ or ‘Under 7.5’ contract will pay out. The official scoring data from the game will serve as the basis for verification. Traders will then receive their payouts based on the final result, as determined by the official game statistics.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding player injuries to key players on either Duke or Virginia could significantly shift expectations. Changes in team performance leading up to the game, such as a surprising win or loss, could also impact trading activity. Even broader factors, like weather conditions if the game is outdoors, or significant shifts in public sentiment, could play a role. Unexpected developments during the first quarter of the game itself could also cause rapid price adjustments in this market.
