Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set odds based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. As more information becomes available – such as injury reports or lineup changes – and as the event approaches, you may see the odds on Polymarket converge or diverge from those offered by sportsbooks. This comparison can offer insights into public perception versus professional analysis.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe an outcome is likely, the higher the price of its corresponding shares will climb. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of its participants, providing a real-time assessment of the game’s potential results.
