Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market is driven purely by traders' willingness to buy or sell based on their individual assessments. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially when public perception diverges from expert analysis. However, as the event approaches, this market tends to converge with sportsbook odds as more information becomes available and traders refine their predictions.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where participants buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether a hole-in-one will occur during the Genesis Championship. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of the event happening. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price fluctuates based on supply and demand, meaning that if many traders believe a hole-in-one is likely, the price of 'yes' shares will increase, and vice-versa. This creates a real-time assessment of the event’s probability.
This market resolves around Oct 26, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on whether a hole-in-one is officially recorded during the entirety of the Genesis Championship tournament. The official tournament results will be used to determine if a hole-in-one occurred, and this information will be used to settle the market. Traders should monitor official tournament coverage for updates as the event progresses.
Several factors could influence the price of shares in this market. News regarding player form, particularly if a known long-shot player is performing exceptionally well, could shift sentiment. Weather conditions at the tournament, such as strong winds or rain, could also impact the probability of a hole-in-one, as these factors affect playing difficulty. Finally, any significant news related to course conditions or changes to the tournament setup could also cause movement in this market, as traders adjust their expectations.
