Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks typically set their lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market allows anyone to participate and express their beliefs. It’s common to see some degree of alignment, but differences can emerge based on unique information or biases within each group. Examining both sets of odds can provide a more comprehensive understanding of the perceived probability of an albatross occurring at the Genesis Championship.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where participants buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. As more shares are purchased indicating an expectation of an albatross, the price of those shares increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of the event happening, allowing traders to express their views and profit if their predictions prove accurate. This dynamic pricing ensures the market continuously adjusts to new information and changing sentiment surrounding the Genesis Championship.

This market resolves around Oct 26, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, resolution will depend on whether an albatross (a score of three under par on a single hole) is officially recorded during any round of the Genesis Championship tournament. The official tournament results will serve as the basis for determining the winning outcome of this market. Any disputes regarding the validity of a claimed albatross will be resolved based on the official tournament scoring rules.

Several factors could influence the price of shares in this market. News regarding player form, particularly those known for aggressive play or strong iron play, could shift sentiment. Weather conditions at the Genesis Championship, such as softer greens or favorable wind, might increase the perceived likelihood of a low score and therefore an albatross. Unexpected course modifications or even early-round hole-in-ones could also impact trading activity. Any significant updates related to the tournament or the players involved have the potential to move this market.
