Prediction market odds often reflect a different kind of wisdom than those found at sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market represents the collective forecast of informed traders. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. If a large number of knowledgeable bettors believe a sportsbook is mispricing a team’s chances in the Detroit City FC match, the prediction market may show a different probability than traditional odds, potentially offering an edge to those who can identify these differences.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome – in this case, either Detroit City FC or Hartford Athletic scoring first. As more shares are traded, the price of each share adjusts to reflect the collective probability assigned by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing means the odds are constantly updating based on supply and demand, providing a real-time assessment of expectations for the Detroit City FC match. The current implied probability of each outcome is visible directly on the market page.
