Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often diverging from initial sportsbook lines as more information becomes available and more traders participate. Sportsbooks set initial odds based on their own models and risk assessment, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individuals. If a significant number of traders believe a particular outcome is more likely than the sportsbook suggests, the odds on Polymarket will adjust accordingly. This can sometimes lead to prediction market odds being more accurate than traditional sportsbook odds, particularly closer to the event.
