Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market relies on individuals freely expressing their beliefs. As a result, you may find discrepancies between the implied probabilities on Polymarket and those offered by traditional sportsbooks. These differences can present opportunities for informed traders to identify value and potentially profit from mispricings.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each exact score. The price of each share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more shares bought for a particular outcome, the higher its price rises, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds continuously adjust based on the latest information and collective sentiment of traders participating in this market.
