Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance betting action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the probability of each team scoring first in the second half. If there’s a significant discrepancy, it could indicate that prediction market participants have access to information or insights not yet fully priced into sportsbook lines, or simply a different assessment of the same information. It’s a good practice to compare both to inform your decisions.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price fluctuates, reflecting the collective assessment of the likelihood of either team scoring first in the second half. The market's current price reflects the aggregated predictions of all participants on Polymarket and can be seen as a forecast of the event's outcome.

This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on which team scores the first goal in the second half of the Deportivo Alavés versus Club Atlético de Madrid match. The official match records will serve as the source of truth for determining the winning outcome. Traders will be able to see the final result and claim their winnings once the resolution is finalized on Polymarket.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding team injuries, suspensions, or changes in starting lineups for either Alavés or Atlético Madrid could significantly shift trader sentiment. Tactical adjustments announced by the managers, or even weather conditions on match day, could also play a role. Unexpected events during the first half of the match, such as a red card or an early goal, could also cause a rapid reassessment of probabilities and lead to price movements in this market.
