Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook’s line is inaccurate, the price on Kalshi will move to reflect that collective insight. This can lead to prediction market odds being more accurate than traditional sportsbook odds, especially as the event approaches and more information becomes available.

Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as profitable traders can earn money based on the difference between their buy and sell prices. This dynamic pricing mechanism aims to reflect the collective intelligence of the crowd.
