Sportsbooks may incorporate biases or seek to profit from public perception, whereas this market aggregates informed opinions. However, initial sportsbook odds may differ significantly from those on Polymarket due to varying information and risk assessments. It’s common to see the prediction market odds converge towards the true probability as more information becomes available and trading volume increases.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each possible exact score. As more shares are purchased for a specific outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher perceived probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as they profit if their chosen outcome is correct and lose money if it is not. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date collective assessment of the match’s potential results.
