Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their lines, and may be influenced by promotional considerations. This market, however, reflects the collective wisdom of crowd predictions on Predict. While sportsbooks might initially set lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, prediction markets can dynamically adjust as new information emerges and more people participate. It’s common to see prediction market odds diverge from sportsbook odds, especially as the event approaches and more information becomes available.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the market’s assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust accordingly. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This means that the odds you see are a direct result of supply and demand within the Predict marketplace, and are not influenced by external factors or pre-defined probabilities.
