Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi, often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, incorporating a wider range of information than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set initial lines based on power rankings and expert analysis, while this market allows anyone to trade on their beliefs, potentially leading to more accurate probabilities. However, sportsbooks may have different incentives and risk management strategies, which can cause discrepancies. It’s common to see prediction markets move faster to incorporate new information, such as injuries or weather conditions, impacting the price of this market.
