Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to freely adjust probabilities based on their own analysis and information. If there’s a significant discrepancy, it might indicate that the market believes a sportsbook has mispriced a particular outcome. However, it's also possible that the market is reacting to information not yet fully incorporated by sportsbooks, or that differing risk appetites are at play. It's important to compare and contrast to form your own informed opinion.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different exact first-half scores. The price of each share reflects the market’s collective belief about the probability of that score occurring. As more trades occur, the price adjusts, providing a dynamic assessment of the potential outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price movements are driven by new information, analysis, and shifts in sentiment among traders participating on Polymarket.
