Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook lines due to the influence of public opinion and information aggregation. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk management, while this market allows anyone to trade on their predictions. Over time, prediction market prices often become more accurate than traditional odds as more information becomes available and more traders participate. However, sportsbook odds may react more quickly to breaking news, while this market’s price movements depend on trading activity.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing the probability of each outcome. The price of a contract reflects the market's collective belief about the likelihood of that outcome occurring. As more people buy contracts for a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price indicates the implied probability, and traders aim to profit by identifying discrepancies between their own predictions and the market price. The market dynamically adjusts based on supply and demand.
This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on which team is leading at the end of the first half of the Coastal Carolina vs Marshall game. Official game results will be used to determine the winning outcome. Traders who correctly predicted the first-half winner will receive a payout based on the final market price at resolution, while those who predicted incorrectly will forfeit their stake.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the Coastal Carolina or Marshall teams would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they are expected to heavily impact the game, could also shift the odds. Unexpected announcements about coaching strategies or team lineups could also play a role. Finally, large trading volume from informed traders could signal shifts in sentiment and drive price changes in this market.
