Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of forecasters, potentially differing from those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance their risk and ensure profit, while this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs about the outcome. Historically, prediction markets have demonstrated accuracy, sometimes surpassing sportsbook predictions, as they aggregate information from a wider range of sources and perspectives. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges that impacts perceived probabilities.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is determined by supply and demand, meaning that shifts in sentiment can quickly impact the odds. This dynamic pricing allows for a constantly updated assessment of the likely result of the Cmil vs. Moulis match.
